Londen, de Franse meesters en ambitie zijn niet het enige wat Alicia Berendse (viool) en Lies Braakman (piano) met elkaar in gemeen hebben, maar dat is wel wat hen samen heeft gebracht. Wat begon met de wens om de vioolsonate van Debussy uit te voeren met een gelijkwaardige collega, is uitgegroeid tot een gedreven duo met een passie om het repertoire te ontdekken.
De jonge musici kregen lessen op de Royal Academy of Music en de Guildhall School of Music and Drama, waar Alicia en Lies respectievelijk hun masterdiploma behaalden. In 2015 waren zij al te horen op Radio4.
Hun beide studies zijn mogelijk gemaakt dankzij het Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds en het VSBfonds. Dankzij de Royal Academy of Music speelt Alicia nu op een Thomas Carcassi viool uit 1775, die zij in bruikleen heeft.

London, the French masters and ambition are not the only things Alicia Berende (violin) and Lies Braakman (piano) have in common, but that is what brought them together. What started out with a desire to perform Debussy’s violin sonata with an equally passionate colleague, grew out to be a driven chamber duo with a hunger (meh..) to explore the repertoire.
The young Dutch musicians received coaching at the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where they both received their Masters degree. Their playing has been featured on the national classical radio station, Radio 4, in the Netherlands. Both their studies have been made possible thanks to the generous support of the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds and the VSBfonds. Alicia plays a Thomas Carcassi violin from 1775, which is kindly on loan from the Royal Academy of Music.
